Tuina Chinese Remedial Massage is used by trained Traditional Chinese Medical Practitioners to alleviate illness and promote health. Chinese Massage is commonly used to treat muscle stiffness, tightness, pain and stress. It is particularly useful for stress related conditions such as insomnia, anxiety and depression, headaches, digestive and menstrual disturbances.
What happens in a Chinese Massage treatment?
Treatment is conducted either sitting upright on a massage chair or lying on a massage bed. It is usually done through clothes or when using liniments a gown can be worn and towels placed over the body. Techniques include kneading, rolling, pushing, rotating, stretching, percussion and acupressure.
How long is a Massage treatment?
A massage treatment by itself can be conducted for up to one and a half hours. Usually however, the therapeutic results are more effective if it is incorporated into an acupuncture treatment along with cupping, guasha or moxabustion.
Are there any risks or side effects of Massage?
Chinese Massage is very beneficial in alleviating illnesses however caution must be taken in early stage pregnancy, hypertension, fever, osteoporosis, varicose veins, wounds, fractures, scars, and inflammation.
